Coping Methods of Adolescents with Dysmenorrhea in the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the coping methods of adolescents suffering from dysmenorrhea in the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This study was conducted with qualitative design. The sample of the study consisted of 12 people. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form. The quantitative data of the study are given as numbers. The qualitative data of the study were evaluated with the descriptive analysis method. Results: Regarding the change in coping methods of the participants with dysmenorrhea before and after the COVID19 pandemic; it has been determined that they has not applied / delayed in applying to the health institution, increase of using alternative / traditional methods, decreasing the pain threshold and increasing the use of analgesics and privacy problems due to isolation. Conclusion: The measures taken by adolescents with dysmenorrhea have changed due to the pandemic process. It is necessary to prepare more comprehensive and efficient programs about coping methods for dysmenorrhea in adolescent during pandemic.
