Abstract

It is known that an estimated 15 million babies are born prematurely each year in the worldwide, and the complications of world and preterm birth were responsible for the deaths of 1 million children under the age of five in 2015. One of the golden criteria for preventing these deaths is the basic care provided in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after birth. The aim of this study is to evaluate the case of premature newborns born at 28w+3d gestational weeks and treated in the NICU according to the 14 basic needs of their care within the framework of Virginia Henderson’s “Basic Needs Theory”.
