Case Report: Nursing Care in Newborn Diagnosed with COVID-19

Abstract

COVID-19 infection has affected the whole world. Coronavirus can infect individuals of all ages. Although the elderly are affected more, a few cases are reported in children and newborns. Monitoring and providing supportive care for newborns diagnosed with COVID-19 has an important place. A 23-dayold baby boy was hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit with the diagnosis of COVID-19 after the symptoms of moaning, restlessness, high fever, vomiting and decreased sucking, and the patient was followed up in a negative pressure isolation room. In this process, the needs of the patient were determined and nursing care was provided accordingly. In this case report, it was aimed to emphasize the importance of nursing care applied to newborns diagnosed with COVID19 and to contribute to the literature by creating a guide for health professionals.
