Evaluation of the Effects of the Clinical and Home Quarantine Process of the Children Treated in the Pandemic Service in the COVID-19 Outbreak by Their Parents

Objective: The aim of this qualitative study is to determine the psychosocial symptoms in children hospitalized with the diagnosis of COVID-19 in the pandemic service and put in home quarantine after hospitalization within the frame of parental views. Method: Parents of 62 children who were admitted to the pandemic service with COVID-19 diagnosis and were subsequently placed in home quarantine were included in the study. The semistructured interview form developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool in the study. Interview form consists of 16 questions aiming to reveal the demographic information of children and their families, the situation of the children in the processes of hospitalization and home quarantine after being diagnosed with COVID-19. Descriptive analysis technique was used in analyzing the data. Results: It was determined that 37.1% of the parents who participated in the study were primary school graduates, 79.1% were women, their age average was 36.1, 51.7% of the children were girls and their age average was 10.2. As a result of the analysis of the data, themes of sleep, nutrition, physical activity, play and state of mind emerged. Conclusion: It can be said that the psychosocial wellbeing of children who were quarantined after being diagnosed with COVID-19 were negatively affected.
