Relationship of Overweight Between Nutrition and Resting Situation in Five Year Old Children

Abstract

Objective: The study, in the city of Konya 5 years (60-71 months) children with feeding and resting state was conducted to determine the relationship between excess weight.

Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study with field research, 2011 September - was made in March 2012. The study of the universe, in the province of Konya Center was 5 years old children. Sample size was calculated to be 982. Students eating, sleeping, answered a questionnaire about physical activity status families, and another questionnaire was administered to teachers. Children's height-weight measurements were made, with BMI ≥ 85 - <95 ≥ 95th percentile, overweight and percentile were considered obese. The findings percentage, chi-square test, logistic regression was used.

Results: 25% of children were overweight-obese, 27% were very picky on food, 27% ​​of its being fed specially prepared food and fast-food style. Eat three meals a day, more than 90%, 25% were children who want a second plate of food. According to the parents of children appetite was more than 3%, 7% cumulative child / fat was considered. 13% over five hours watching television, playing computer 4%, 78% engaged in painting over an hour every day, 19% of cyclists, 37% were children playing outside the house. The incidence of overweight in children of overweight mothers 1.5 times, his father's computer usage time in more than three hours, which was 1.6 times, 13 times in appetite, good condition, ready meals in use was 0.2 times higher.

Conclusion: The incidence of overweight in children temperamental, ready meals and child-specific food preferences in patients with overweight in children of mothers, children of fathers who had too much time on the computer than on respectively. Imparted in preschool balanced diet, physical activity habits in future years will be able to improve the quality of life.
