Evaluation of university students’ perceptions about being parent

Abstract

Purpose: This research was conducted to evaluate the perceptions of university students about being parents. Method: The descriptive study was conducted with 1682 university students who were formally educated at Atatürk University between 08.05.2021 and 30.06.2021. Data were collected using the “Personal Information Form” and the “Perception Scale of Being a Parent”. Percentage distributions, mean, student t test and ANOVA analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: It was found that the total score of the university students participating in the study on the Perception Scale of Being a Parent was 132.93±23.93. It was observed that there was a difference between the total mean scores of the Perception Scale of Being a Parent according to age, gender, parental relationship status, family type, employment status and future parenting status of the university students participating in the study (p<0.05).
