The Relationship of COVID-19 Phobia with Breastfeeding Attitude and Maternal Attachment in the Postpartum Period

Purpose: The aim of the study is to examine the relationship of COVID-19 phobia in the postpartum period of mothers with breastfeeding couples and the presence of the mother. Method: The research is reproductive and relationshipseeking type, with 304 mothers and readers who participated online via social media (Facebook, Instagram) between December 2020 and March 2021. Data were obtained with the Self-Identification Form, the COVID-19 Phobia Scale (C19PS), the Breastfeeding Attitude Assessment Scale (BAAS), and the Maternal Attachment Scale (MAS). Results: In the research; it was determined that the mean C19P-S total score of the women was 58.85±16.90, and the mean total score of BAAS and MAS was 103.77±12.84 and 96.74±9.00, respectively. In the study, the average of C19P-S Psychological score (p=.021) of women with income centers and high perception, C19P-S Somatic mean score of women who graduated from primary and secondary school (p=.005) and C19P-S mean of economics of women who graduated from primary school (p=. .005) =.010) was found to be higher. There was a weak negative correlation between mothers' C19P-S and mean scores of BAAS and MAS (r=-.263, r=- .154; p<.05, respectively). Conclusion: The aim of this study is to neutralize the breastfeeding attitude of the mothers and the inclusion of the mother in the postpartum period, where the COVID-19 phobia is high, the psychological and social subgroups of the COVID19 phobia hiss the most, and the experienced phobia.
