COVID-19 sürecinde pediatri servislerinde çalışan hemşire ve hekimlerin merhamet düzeylerinin belirlenmesi

Amaç: Hastaya sunulan sağlık bakım hizmeti içinde merhamet kavramının bir zorunluluk olduğu bilinmektedir. COVID-19 pandemisi ise sağlık profesyonellerinin mevcut iş yüklerinde bir artışa neden olmuş ve onların merhamet düzeylerini ve yorgunluklarını etkilemiştir.
Bu araştırma COVID-19 sürecinde çocuk servislerinde çalışan hemşire ve hekimlerin merhamet düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırmaya Sivas il merkezinde bulunan bir devlet hastanesi ve bir üniversite hastanesinin pediatri servisleri ve polikliniklerinde çalışan 176 hemşire ve 44 hekim katılmıştır. Veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve Merhamet Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Merhamet Ölçeği’ne göre bireyin merhamet puanı ne kadar düşük ise merhamet yorgunluğu riski o oranda artmaktadır.
Bulgular: Hekimlerin Merhamet Ölçeği toplam puan ortalamasının 99.20±9.25, hemşirelerin ise 98.56±12.79 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada pediatri hemşireleri ve hekimlerinin merhamet düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu ve merhamet yorgunluğu açısından çok düşük risk taşıdıkları bulunmuştur. Pediatri hekimlerinin merhamet düzeyinin hemşirelerden yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır.
Sonuç: Hastalara merhametli bakım sunulmasını engelleyecek sistem ve hasta kaynaklı sorunların tespit edilmesi ve bunlara karşı önlem alınması, konuyla ilgili farklı faktörleri de dikkate alarak daha geniş örneklem gruplarıyla yeni çalışmaların yapılması önerilmektedir.
