Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of post-traumatic stress on mother–infant attachment among mothers of preterm infants.

Methods: The study was carried out cross-sectionally with 107 mothers who had premature birth in June 2018-January 2020 in İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center. Research data were collected face-to-face using the "Mother Information Form," "Maternal Attachment Scale," and "Post-Traumatic Stress Scale".

Results: It was found that mothers had high average scores for post-traumatic stress and maternal attachment. Post-traumatic stress scores increased as maternal age, infant birth weight, and gestational age decreased. A statistically significant relationship was found between post-traumatic stress and mother-infant attachment (p=0.017).

Conclusion: A positive correlation has been found between levels of post-traumatic stress and maternal attachment.

Amaç: Bu araştırma prematüre doğum yapmış annelerin posttravmatik stresinin anne bebek bağlanması üzerine etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.

Yöntem: Araştırma Haziran 2018-Ocak 2020 tarihleri arasında bir araştırma uygulama hastanesinde prematüre doğum yapmış 107 anne ile kesitsel olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri “Anne Bilgi Formu”, ‘‘Maternal Bağlanma Ölçeği’’ ve ‘‘Posttravmatik Stres Ölçeği’’ kullanılarak yüz yüze toplanmıştır.

Bulgular: Annelerin posttravmatik stres ve maternal bağlanma puan ortalamalarının yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Anne yaşı, bebeğin doğum kilosu ve haftası düştükçe posttravmatik stres puanları artmıştır. Posttravmatik stres ile anne bebek bağlanması arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p=0.017).

Sonuç: Posttravmatik stres düzeyi ile maternal bağlanma arasında pozitif ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir.
