PUBLICATION POLICY

JICAH is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal published three times a year. The language of the journal is Turkish and English. No fee is charged for the articles sent to the journal and all accepted articles are published free of charge. Articles sent to the journal are evaluated within three months.

Articles submitted to the journal are subject to editorial review. Articles are evaluated in terms of spelling, scientific value, originality, plagiarism, and ethics in the preliminary examination made by the editor. The articles found suitable are reviewed by the secretariat in terms of article writing rules.

Field editors are assigned to manuscripts that complete this process. Field editors send the manuscripts to two independent reviewers who are experts in their fields. As a result of the evaluation of the article by the reviewers, positive, correction, or negative opinions are received. If one of the reviewers gives a positive opinion and the other a negative opinion, the article is re-evaluated by the editors and can be sent to a third reviewer for evaluation. In order for the manuscript to be accepted for publication, editors or at least two reviewers must give positive or corrected opinions on the manuscripts sent to the reviewers. The editors decide whether to publish the article as it is, to request a correction from the author, or not to publish it, in line with the reviewer's evaluations, and this decision is notified to the author(s). The author(s) are required to complete the topics requested for correction within the specified period (30 days) and send the article back to the journal. If the author(s) cannot complete the necessary corrections within the specified time, additional time may be given if requested. The completed or corrected article can be sent for review by the editors when deemed necessary. Manuscripts that are not found appropriate by the editors or that have not made the necessary referee and editorial corrections can be returned to the author(s) with the decision of the editors.

Due to the publication policy of the journal, articles written by the editors are not included in the journal. However, in the first three issues of the journal including the first year, the articles sent by the members of the editorial board and whose refereeing process has been completed can be accepted for publication in the journal, in order for the journal to continue its publication life and to avoid any problems in the publication of the relevant issue in its own period.

All transactions are carried out electronically. Accepted articles are queued for publication with the approval of the Editorial Board. In the final checks made during the layout of the articles planned to be published, if deemed necessary, spelling and grammatical errors can be corrected by the editorial board without touching the content of the article.

POLICY ON THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS

Fundamental Principles and Responsibilities in the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

Creative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policies for Authors

Under no circumstances should creative AI tools be cited as authors or co-authors of an academic article. The authors are fully responsible for the content, accuracy and originality of the submitted work. Using AI tools does not absolve authors of their scientific, ethical and intellectual obligations. The journal strictly prohibits the use of AI for creating fake authors or committing identity fraud.

Transparency and Disclosure

The use of any AI tool in research, writing or processes must be clearly stated within the article. This declaration should be provided in the ‘Methods’ or ‘Acknowledgements’ section, as appropriate. It is important to provide detailed information on how and for what purpose these tools were used, including the full names and version numbers of the AI tools mentioned in the explanation.

Creative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policies for Editors

Editors should not upload unpublished articles, related files, images or other relevant information to AI tools. Protecting the confidentiality of submitted content and safeguarding authors' intellectual property rights are among the primary responsibilities of editors.

Use of AI in the Review Process

Editors may use AI tools in certain parts of the editorial process, such as initial eligibility assessment or reviewer selection, provided they have received explicit approval from the journal management. Any such use of AI must be clearly disclosed to authors. It is the editors' responsibility to verify that the disclosed use of AI complies with the journal's rules.

AI Usage Policies for Reviewers

Reviewers should endeavour to detect any AI usage that has not been disclosed in the articles they are evaluating, and report any suspicions to the editors. However, it is important that these assessments are based on clear, objective criteria.

Reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts or related documents submitted for review to creative AI platforms during the peer review process. Such actions may lead to breaches of confidentiality and intellectual property rights. The evaluation process should be conducted according to the reviewer's level of knowledge and experience.

Permitted Areas of Use

·  Creative artificial intelligence can be used to visually represent theoretical ideas, conceptual structures or processes. Visuals designed in this way should accurately reflect the author's understanding and explanations.

·     Authors can use AI tools to enhance the visual presentation of research data. These tools can be particularly useful for improving the design and comprehensibility of graphs, tables and diagrams.

·      AI-generated visuals can be used as symbolic or explanatory representations to simplify and explain complex ideas. Such visuals should support the reader's understanding of the subject and should not misrepresent the concepts being conveyed.

Restricted or Prohibited Areas of AI Use

·    It is inappropriate to use AI to prepare important sections of an article, such as the abstract, introduction, literature review or discussion section. Content generated by AI should be treated as a draft and carefully reviewed and revised by the author(s) to maintain academic rigour and originality.

·   AI tools should not be used to generate, report or interpret research results. All responsibility for data analysis rests solely with the author(s).

·      It is strictly prohibited to create fake, unverifiable or non-existent sources using AI tools. All cited sources must be verifiable, referenced correctly in accordance with academic standards, and approved by the author(s).

·   The author(s) are entirely responsible for developing the article's main arguments, theoretical contributions and fundamental thesis. AI may only be used as an auxiliary tool during the writing process and cannot replace critical thinking or original academic contributions.

Procedure to Follow in Case of Policy Violation

If the use of AI tools is not explicitly stated, or if they are used contrary to these rules, the article may be rejected during the evaluation process. If a violation is detected after publication, actions such as publishing a correction or retracting the article may be taken. Repeated or serious violations of this policy may result in future submissions by the author(s) being rejected by the journal.
